Hockey Oath Entry

Varsity Oath Competition Results

During Varsity, we asked sports teams from Team Hallam and The University of Sheffield to work together to create a photo representation showing how their sport embraces the Varsity Oath of Pride, Respect, Fair Play and Sportsmanship. Teams were asked to submit their entry to the Sheffield Varsity Facebook page to be in with the chance of winning.

Uni of Sheffield Varsity Champions 2018

University of Sheffield have claimed the Varsity trophy for the sixth consecutive year! The final score of this year’s competition was 45 – 34, with University being in the lead most of the way. Thank you to all athletes that have competed in Varsity this year, the spectators that have attended this year’s events to cheer on their institution, and also to the staff and volunteers that made the event possible.

Varsity Oath Competition

We are asking sports teams from Team Hallam and The University of Sheffield to work together during Varsity to create a photo representation symbolising what the Varsity Oath of Pride, Respect, Fair Play and Sportsmanship means to their sport. To enter the Varsity Oath Competition you must do the following before the 27th of April.

Sports Park Day

The next big event for your diary is Sports Park Day, a day filled with a variety of sports including football, rugby, cricket, ultimate frisbee and much more. Sports Park day always has an amazing atmosphere with hundreds of spectators and athletes from each university.

Danny Porter Foundation

Every year we use Varsity as a platform to raise money for a chosen charity and aim to spread its awareness across the City. This year we have chosen to work alongside Sheffield Hallam University to support the Danny Porter foundation. Dan Porter MBE was an inspirational individual, who championed sport at Hallam University, Sheffield and across the Country.

6 Days to Go

There is less than a week to go until the start of Varsity finals week, where Team Hallam and The University of Sheffield will play more than 70 fixtures in over 30 sports to try and win Varsity 2018. After Snow Sports, Ice Hockey and Boxing, the score stands at 3-3, so it’s all to play for!

Varsity Boxing & Ice Hockey

Varsity 2018 resumed on the 21st March with Ice Hockey 1’s at the Fly DSA Arena. The match remains the most watched Ice Hockey event outside of North America and both teams were looking to score a crucial point in the Varsity tournament. The University of Sheffield team played a brilliant game, ending the first period 1-1. The Black and Gold spirit was in full force, and the Team Hallam crowd were on top form with their support. The game finished 6-3 to Sheffield Hallam University giving them the point for the evening.

Varsity Tickets 2018

Varsity tickets will go on sale from the 5th February with the Boxing and Ice Hockey opening event being on sale first followed by Sports Park, Ice Hockey 2’s, American Football, Football Final on the 12th February. Snowsports Varsity Results

On Friday 15 December, around 600 excited students from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University left to take on The Alps. Both universities were ready to compete and spectate at Snow Sports Varsity 2018, the annual competition between the two universities.

University of Sheffield have claimed the Varsity trophy for the fifth consecutive year! Making them the first University to win the trophy five years in a row.
