On Saturday 17th December athletes from Sheff Ski and SHU Snow left Sheffield ready to take on The Alps. Hundreds of students from both Universities were ready to compete and spectate at Snow Sports 2016, the annual competition between The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.
This year marked the fourth Snowsports event, giving both Universities the chance to secure the first valuable Varsity points ahead of the continued competition in March 2017.
The freestyle competition went ahead on Tuesday 20th December. This saw The University of Sheffield secure half a point for the men’s skiing, men’s snowboarding, and the women’s snowboarding, with Hallam taking the final half point for women’s skiing.
Unfortunately the racing competition was unable to take place due to adverse weather conditions. This will take place back in the UK (date to be confirmed), but in the meantime Sheffield University take the lead with 1.5 points to Hallam’s 0.5.
