Snowsports Varsity Results
On Friday 15 December, around 600 excited students from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University left to take on The Alps. Both universities were ready to compete and spectate at Snow Sports Varsity 2018, the annual competition between the two universities.
This year marked the fifth Snow Sports event, giving both Universities the chance to secure the first valuable Varsity points ahead of the continued competition in March and April.
The competitions took place over two days, with the ski and snowboarding racing on the Tuesday, and the freestyle events scheduled on the Thursday. The first day saw The University of Sheffield secure a point for the snowboard racing and Sheffield Hallam University claimed an equalising point for the ski racing.
This left it all to play for in the freestyle events. The freestyle events took place later in the week where the University of Sheffield took the remaining two points, making the score for the first Varsity event of the year 3-1.
The next Varsity competition to take place will be ice hockey on 21 March. Follow @sheffvarsity on Twitter to stay up to date on all things Varsity, including when the tickets will be going on sale, and how you can get hold of yours.
